Some things can just be more of a hassle...

Lately I have been attempting to get the proper permission to do Let's Play videos of two games. Now I know most people simply do not do this and post videos of Let's Plays with abandon. I, however, would actually like to get the proper permission from the companies who own the games to do so. This brings me to the point of this post: sometimes being the guy who will survive the angry stream of copywrite enforcers trodding through youtube is almost not worth the headache of searching. The only consolation that we get is that our content has sheilds against people who go about reporting content for little to no actual reason. Something that would be smarter for a lot of companies to do is place a link or have a page where video makers can request permission to use their games or content in their videos.

As a note, never be the guy demanding permission. Always be a gracious consumer and see if the terms of the agreement are possible to comply with and still make your video. If they are not, let them know in a polite manner.
